Improve your overall well-being by focusing on happiness first

We all know It’s much easier to engage with something that feels fulfilling rather than completing a mundane means to an end. That’s why it’s so important to forge your own path and follow your heart instead of meeting society’s expectations of what you should be doing.

Life isn’t just about work; you need to focus on what lifts you up too. Even if you love what you do, you aren’t going to be feeling 100% all of the time, and that’s totally normal.

Try to focus on what things you can do that bring you joy and work them into your routine. If you work late nights or weekends, maybe you have time in the morning for yoga or a walk—or even something more indulgent like a pedicure or massage!

If you love catching up with friends, reach out to someone who might have a similar schedule to you and share a quick conversation over a cup of coffee before you start your day. You could even start working with a personal coach to really ramp up your feel-good formula!

Whatever it is that sparks joy, bring more of it into your life in whatever way works best for you.

The secret to your well-being lies in stress-management

Certain levels of stress can be healthy and move things in the direction they need to go. Other times, extreme levels of stress can be detrimental to your health and well-being.

We live in a very fast-moving world, and if you work in the service industry, it might feel like you’re never going to be fully caught up. If you want to set yourself up for success, it’s important to learn helpful stress-management skills.

To protect your well-being, consider the following anytime you’re feeling overwhelmed:

  • Focus on the task at hand—conserve your energy for what can be done now and try not to worry about what is out of your control, or future problems you have yet to deal with.
  • Self-awareness is key—the most effective way to improve your coping habits is to be transparent and honest with yourself. Evaluate your productivity and try to identify things that could be using up too much of your valuable time.
  • Speak with a coach or participate in a leadership development program

The Importance of Social Awareness and Practicing Empathy

We can’t always expect to understand what people are thinking or experiencing, but it certainly helps to try. When you’re able to express greater levels of empathy, it cultivates a deeper sense of trust within your team. People are much more likely to engage with those they feel more comfortable with, and it leads to improved teamwork and collaboration.

Aside from that, empathy helps you form more well-rounded business strategies. You can’t expect to have any idea what kind of products or services to provide if you aren’t in touch with the needs of your customers. When you and your employees have a more united understanding of empathy and how to apply it in the workplace, everyone benefits from it.

To get your team on the right track for 2023, registration is now open for the foundational 6-week Positive Intelligence® Business Training Program. This program enables teams to maximize both performance and well-being simultaneously by focusing on the root-level muscles that impact both.

Imposter Syndrome: Fighting Through Self-Doubt

You might be aware of your impostor syndrome, but are you aware of the tools out there to help you fight against it? Ultimately, it comes down to your core beliefs, which are ingrained thoughts we have about ourselves as a result of different experiences that create our worldview. Essentially, your “core beliefs” completely change how you view and experience the world.

For example, someone who thinks the world is out to get them might experience even the slightest inconvenience as if they are being targeted. When you feel like the universe is working against you, it’s impossible to get into a mindset for success.

On the other hand, if you’re in a headspace that is ready to accept and overcome challenges, the world is really yours for the taking.

Try to assess your core beliefs by asking yourself the following questions:

  • What do I believe to be true about myself?
  • Do I rely on the approval of others for a sense of self-worth?
  • Am I worthy of love and acceptance as my authentic self?

Women in leadership roles have the power to change the workforce, and it all starts with a little mental exercise.

Registration is now open for the next 6-week Positive Intelligence® Mental Fitness Foundation program starting January 21, 2023. The program is based on Shirzad Chamine’s Positive Intelligence® work.

You will learn to use negative emotions as a helpful alert and then quickly shift to the positive region of the brain that has the calm, clarity, objectivity and creativity to handle life’s challenges more effectively.

Imposter Syndrome: The Impact of Your Inner Voice

Sometimes we use our inner voice to guide us to make better decisions, sometimes intuition can be more valuable than facts. When it comes to something like impostor syndrome, you’re usually stuck dealing with a vicious cycle of anxiety, things turning out okay, and attributing that success to something other than your ability.

When you deal with constant bouts of anxiety and fear like this, it’s not uncommon for you to advance into depression. The reason why it’s so hard to get out of this cycle is that the more you accomplish, the stronger the “impostor” feeling becomes.

It might be hard for you to pinpoint exactly where impostor syndrome affects your current life, so here are some examples:

  • You’ve moved into a leadership role and feel uncomfortable when referred to by your newer title as if you didn’t earn it.
  • You might have a hard time promoting yourself or your business because you feel like those who do have more experience than you.
  • You often find yourself in a state of indecision because of your lack of confidence in your role.

While these feelings are difficult to navigate and hard to talk about, you don’t have to do it alone.

Registration is now open for the next 6-week Positive Intelligence® Mental Fitness Foundation program starting November 12, 2022. The program is based on Shirzad Chamine’s Positive Intelligence® work.
